Our home is quite unique for Toronto: a cottage in the city! It's really a 3 BR home, but only one is used as a bedroom (King, natural latex memory foam designer mattress), and my spouse and I each have our own study. We also have an open concept dining/living room, 2 full baths (one with walk-in shower, the other with tub), newly renovated kitchen with Bosch dishwasher, French door fridge, convection oven.(NB: the photos for the kitchen are not up to date - I need to take new ones since the Reno!)
Our backyard is gardener's paradise, very private, overlooking a forested ravine. The back deck has electrical access for laptop plug in, and a large suspended sun umbrella to block sun as needed. We also have a separate pergola built on the side of the adjacent garden house, so there are lots of spaces to tuck away in summer and fall! Yoga mats to share, and inversion table for those that enjoy that sort of thing. Off-street parking for two cars, two bicycles available in the garage.
Our lower level opens to the back and has a mother-in-law suite (separate entrance) occupied by a graduate student. We do have two resident cats, Noura and Ludwig, so our home can only accommodate those without pet allergies. Our two feline companions are accustomed to being fed by our tenant if we are away, or you are welcome to feed them if you wish.
Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
We are on the east side of Toronto, north of Main Station subway and Taylor Creek Park in a neighbourhood known as Woodbine Gardens. Taylor Creek Park is a 10 minute walk away and has wonderful walkways that follow a creek in the woods. I usually walk to the subway through the Creek (about 25 min walk), but you can also hop on the local bus and be at the station in 15 min. From there, it is a 15 min subway ride to the downtown core (e.g. Yonge/Bloor). I sometimes bike to downtown from here along bike paths and it takes about 45 minutes.
We are also a 10-min car drive (or 20-min bike ride) from The Beaches, where you can swim in Lake Ontario (the water reaches about 24 C in July/August).
There is a supermarket within 10-minutes walking distance, and of course, one can drive to bigger shopping centres about 15-minutes from here.
Overall, we feel we enjoy the best of both worlds, a balance of nature and culture!
