Our home looks out at Scout Lake and the State Park. It is a two bedroom, 2 1/2 baths on a single level. The living room has a rock fireplace, a leather sofa and loveseat, and an over stuffed chair with ottoman. The master bedroom has a queen bed, double shower, and a jacuzzi. The guest room has a queen size bed. The den/TV room has a comfortable queen sofa sleeper, a double and single recliner, and a large screen TV with satellite. The sunroom, with many plants, doubles as our computer room. From the kitchen, dining room, living room, and den enjoy beautiful views of lake. We have a large patio with a hammock, outdoor furniture and a gas grill surrounded by flowers, lawn and a trail to the beach/lake. By the lake, we have a stone fireplace for your enjoyment. Sterling is on the Kenai Peninsula, 140 miles south of Anchorage and 8 miles from Soldotna and the world famous, Kenai River, home of the world record 97 lb. king salmon. We live in a small, quiet neighborhood, steps away from hiking trails and canoeing/kayaking. Our area offers picturesque rivers, glaciers, the ocean, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and 4 active volcanoes: Mt Spurr, Mt. Redoubt, Mt. Iliamna, and St. Augustine, located on the western shore of Cook Inlet. If you like to fish, there are four species of salmon, halibut, trout, and dolly varden to chose from, as well as clam digging on low tides. Swanson River Canoe System and the Moose and Kenai Rivers are close by. There are golf courses in Soldotna and Kenai. Seward is 90 miles away. It is famous for the Kenai Fjords, a mecca for marine life, such as humpback and orca whales. The majestic Kachemak Bay is located in Homer just 70 miles away. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, riding snow machines, dogsledding, and skating. If you enjoy downhill skiing, the Alyeska Ski resort is 2 hours away.
